For those of us interested in residency programs, we are encouraged to do well in school, get involved in pharmacy organizations, work part time, do research, and have a life/interests outside of pharmacy school
In the spirit of these wonderful mentors, preceptors, and friends, who lifted me up and illuminated my last four years with their kindness, I will share some of the most meaningful pieces of advice I received in pharmacy school with you. 1
When you go through a rigorous pharmacy school curriculum, you really appreciate your precious time off
It didn't feel tedious or exhausting, it was what I came to pharmacy school to do and I loved it
As pharmacists we are bright, having gotten through a rigorous school of pharmacy curriculum and passed our licensing board, however the skills to be successful are not often taught in school because of time limitations given all the science we need to know

The day a new opportunity becomes available, is not the best time to start your pharmacist CV updates. As most schools of pharmacy have instilled in us, your CV should constantly be updated for a good running record of your career details. Eight to ten years from now will you remember the name of your preceptor at your first pharmacy school rotation? No. So get it down now

· Don’t have regrets o Life is too short to allow doubts to keep you from doing the things you really want to do o Remember a little talent and a healthy dose of confidence will lead to your success even if your vision seems too big at the moment you will grow into it o The phrase “ I’m not good enough” isn’t worthy of you and can paralyze you so believe in yourself and your abilities (you got through pharmacy school J ). Some action steps to consider are: · Clarify what your dream or leadership vision (ideal future) is and document it · Look at failures and mistakes as learning tools · Do something everyday towards your vision · Talk to yourself positively
